Premier Bank Announces Youngstown Holiday Parade High School Band Spirit Content Winners

Youngstown, OH  (December 17, 2024) – Premier Bank associates and their families gathered earlier this month for the annual Youngstown Holiday Parade & Light-Up Night. The parade took place Friday, December 6, bringing downtown Youngstown to life with holiday magic. This year’s parade was led by Youngstown’s Police and Fire Departments with the Premier Bank Santa’s Toyland float trailing right behind.

In 2017, Premier Bank and Youngstown CityScape began the “Strike up the Band” program and invited local area high school marching bands to participate in the parade. Premier Bank donated $1,000 to each school band for participation and travel expenses.

“This was the sixth year we hosted the Band Spirit Contest. The bands were judged based on overall “Holiday Spirit” which included appearance, music and enthusiasm,” explained Josh Toot, Mahoning Valley Market President, Premier Bank. “Thank you to each of the high school bands for coming out. We’re so glad the students enjoy this event and show up with such delightful holiday spirit.”

The judging panel, which consisted of Nick Chretien, Planning and Regional Development Manager, Western Reserve Port Authority; Matthew Longmire, Business Resource Manager, Valley Economic Development Partners; Roxanne Sebest, Vice President, United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley; Jane Small, spouse of Gary Small, President & CEO, Premier Bank and Ron Strollo, Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Youngstown State University.

The winners are as follows:
  • 1st Place winning $1,000 was Liberty High School
  • 2nd Place winning $500 was Niles McKinley High School
  • 3rd Place winning $250 was Hubbard High School
“The Youngstown holiday parade continues to get better year after year with excited families flooding the streets of downtown Youngstown. We can’t wait to see the enchantment that the 2025 parade will bring,” said Toot.
